When I started out in jewellery, I found it quite a daunting industry. Work experience placements were very difficult to find, and I wasn't really sure what career paths were available and I am still learning to this day the challenges which come when setting up your own jewellery business.

So its been a whole year since I launched my website and I have decided it is the right time to start taking on work experience students. I really benefited from my placements while I was at university and with placements few and far between these days, I knew I wanted to offer placements as soon as possible.

Modern art is something that a lot of people struggle with. This is largely because people outside the art world are not always keen on the conceptualisation of art and they like the idea of artists retaining some of that painterly skill so often seen in the past.
There is also the fact that contemporary art shows are often bogged down in contemporary art show language - they are accompanied by artists' statements and blurbs that are almost too difficult to penetrate and derive any meaning from because of the jargon they use.

Whilst walking along your local high street, you may have noticed a new addition to the usual array of shops. Lately ‘pop-up art galleries’ have been springing up all over the place. Innovative selections of art are being displayed more and more in vacant shops making art more accessible to the public than ever before. This concept is also a great way of supporting local artists by showcasing their talent.

On the 12th December 2012, at 12 noon, our worst fears were confirmed, we were losing our much loved and wanted baby the day before we were expecting our 12 week scan. It is a strange surreal experience and can be different for everybody.

Today is the first day of Farnham Maltings Festival of Crafts in Farnham, Surrey. My stall is all set up and ready to go. Its cold and foggy outside but the work in here is bright, fun and really unique, so worth popping down to see if you are able to. Tickets are £3, there are two floors of craftsmen and women selling jewellery, textiles, gifts, sculpture and ceramics. There are also demonstrations to be seen throughout the day! Hope to see you xx
